Vitaly Che  Flutes Workshop

Vitaly Che

I have been looking for a flute from a tree branch for a long time, there are several flute makers who do this in America. In 2015 I came across a page of Vitaly Che via Facebook and this time not in America but in the Ukraine. His Facebook page is called: Flutes Workshops. There you will find films and flutes that he has made. Besides Indian style flutes, he also makes Ocarinas and Bansuri. The tree branch flutes are made from dead wood that has been dried in the forest, giving it its appearance due to weather influences and insects. His workshop is located on the edge of the forest near his grandparents' house.

2015 No. 041 Em Tree Branch Flute

The first flute from Ukraine

The first flute Vitaly made for me was an E minor flute. As soon as the flute was ready I got some pictures and a sound fragment to see if I was happy with the flute. The communication is via messenger. Payment The whistle can be paid Western Union. Make sure you create your Western Union account with the same name as your bank account, otherwise the payment will be rejected.

For example, I had entered my first name while my bank account has my initials.

What is important with a flute made of branches is that you indicate whether you play with your left or right hand above because of course attachments of certain branches or the curved shape ensures that it does matter whether you play with your left hand or right hand up. With this flute, the top left is the best way to play because of the curvature in the branch and the knot.

And whistle for the fast songs

This one is definitely one of my favorite flutes, I must confess that I took the leather trim off.

This is the photo Vitaly took when he was done.

Not that it wasn't beautiful, but with this flute I often play in faster songs and that's nice when there's nothing in the way.

With this one you can see that a beetle has done its best on the decorations in the wood. Not good for the tree by the way.

Below a video made with this flute

This recording is from 2016 as I write this in 2022 almost 6 years ago.

2015 No. 043 F 432 HZ

This flute is in 432 Hz and is said to be more in balance with nature. Most instruments are tuned in 440 Hz so that playing together with these instruments is not possible. For example, you can tune a string instrument in 432 Hz. You can also, for example, adjust the frequency of your backing tack in Audiocity to combine it with your flute.

This flute has a beautiful sound and like all other Vitaly flutes they play very lightly.

Touched by the war in the Ukraine, I made this song with this flute. I made the 3 d recording of the flute together with my father, an experiment in itself

Ocarina

This is an ocarina because when I moved to a house with a garden and tits came regularly I asked if he could make an ocarina with a great tit on it.

The basic idea of the Ocarina originated in China and is probably thousands of years old. The first classical chromatic ocarina was designed in the 19th century by the Italian Giuseppe Donati (1836-1923). He named this instrument Ocarina, 'little goose'. All "vessel flutes" made before this date were much less precisely tuned and cannot be considered ocarinas. The instrument became popular in the second half of the 19th century and was also played in club form. (source wikipedia)

Artwork from nature

When I saw this flute passing by on Facebook in 2021 I hoped it was still for sale, a work of art from nature where music comes from. This flute is also not an Indian style flute, but as Vitaly calls it a forest flute. This he is made from a wild apple tree. It originally had 4 holes but Vitaly suggested making 2 more because it has the same reach as an Indian flute. The curvature was perfect because I play with the top left. The flute was in a nice flute case.

432 Hz

Because this flute is 432 HZ, it can only play together with a flute tuned to this frequency. So I tuned my guitar in 432 HZ on the advice of William Hopper to have all strings a tone lower so that In E minor can be played with the song. This song is a combination with my guitar in 432 Hz

With this song I have the music from my keyboard

converted to 432 Hz the flute certainly lives up to its name because the bird sounds are also made with it.

lyrics

In de dark of the night

lost in the forrest listing to the wind

and the owlin the tree, don’t be affraid

the moon will protect you

The birds will lead you the way
